Quality Control for Custom Metal Parts
From incoming materials to final inspection, we control critical dimensions, material requirements and manufacturing quality throughout production.
- Quality starts before production begins
Quality Control from Drawing to Delivery
Every custom metal part starts with a drawing, but producing a qualified part requires more than simply following dimensions.
At Dalian Zhongsheng, we review your drawings, material specifications, tolerances, critical features and inspection requirements before production begins. These requirements are then incorporated into the manufacturing and quality control process.
Whether your parts require casting, CNC machining, forging or sheet metal fabrication, quality checks are carried out at appropriate stages of production—from incoming materials and in-process manufacturing to dimensional inspection and final verification before shipment.
Our goal is not simply to inspect finished parts, but to identify potential quality issues earlier in the manufacturing process and help ensure that the delivered parts meet the agreed drawing and project requirements.
Our Quality Control Process
From drawing review to final release, quality checkpoints are integrated into each stage of your custom metal parts project.

Drawing & Quality Requirement Review
Before production, we review your drawings, material specifications, tolerances, critical dimensions, surface requirements and other specified quality requirements.
Drawing · Material · Tolerance · Critical Features

Incoming Material Verification
Incoming materials are checked against the specified material requirements before they enter the manufacturing process. Supporting material documentation can be reviewed where required.
Material Grade · Material Records · Visual Check

First Article Verification
For projects requiring first article verification, initial parts are checked against key drawing characteristics before continuing with batch production.
Initial Part · Key Dimensions · Drawing Check

In-Process Inspection
During casting, CNC machining, forging or sheet metal fabrication, relevant characteristics are monitored at appropriate production stages to identify deviations before subsequent operations.
Casting · CNC Machining · Forging · Fabrication

Final Inspection
Finished parts are inspected against the agreed drawing and order requirements, with attention to critical dimensions, surface condition and other specified characteristics before shipment.
Dimensions · Surface · Critical Features

Documentation & Release
After inspection is completed, required quality records and project-specific documentation can be prepared according to the agreed requirements before the parts are released for shipment.

Dimensional Inspection for Critical Features
Critical dimensions can directly affect fit, assembly and part performance. We verify drawing-defined features using appropriate measuring methods based on part geometry, tolerance and inspection requirements.
Inspection Focused on Function-Critical Dimensions
Not every dimension carries the same functional importance. During drawing review, we pay particular attention to specified tolerances and features that can affect assembly, alignment, sealing, movement or fit.
Inspection methods are selected according to the part geometry, tolerance and agreed inspection requirements rather than relying on a single measuring tool for every feature.
Bores & Internal Features
Bore diameters, internal steps, depths and other specified internal features can be checked according to drawing requirements.
Bores · Internal Diameters · Depths
Hole Position & Center Distance
Mounting holes, bolt patterns and center distances affect assembly. These features are verified against drawing requirements.
Hole Position · Bolt Pattern · Center Distance
Mating & Machined Surfaces
Machined faces and mating features are inspected where their dimensions and geometric relationship can affect fit, alignment, sealing or assembly.
Mating Faces · Machined Surfaces · Alignment
Overall & Geometric Requirements
Overall dimensions and geometric characteristics are checked using suitable methods based on part size, geometry and drawing requirements.
Overall Size · Position · Geometric Features
Measuring Methods Selected for the Requirement
Different features require different inspection methods. We select measuring equipment according to part size, geometry, tolerance and the agreed inspection plan.
Your Critical Dimensions Come First
Not every dimension carries the same functional importance. During drawing review, we pay particular attention to specified tolerances and features that can affect assembly, alignment, sealing, movement or fit.

Material & Performance Verification
At Dalian Zhongsheng, material and performance requirements are reviewed according to customer drawings, specifications and project requirements. Appropriate verification and testing can be incorporated into the quality plan where required.
Material Requirements Start with the Drawing
Material verification begins with the specified grade and technical requirements on your drawing or purchase specification.
Before production, we review the required material grade, applicable standards and any project-specific testing or documentation requirements so they can be considered in material sourcing, manufacturing and inspection.
Material Grade · Standard · Properties · Documentation
Chemical Composition Verification
Material composition can be verified when required to confirm compliance with the specified material grade.
Material Grade · Alloy Elements · Specification
Hardness Testing
Hardness can be checked according to material, heat treatment and drawing requirements where specified.
Hardness · Heat Treatment · Material Condition
Mechanical Property Testing
Mechanical properties can be verified when specified by the project, with testing arranged according to the applicable material requirements.
Tensile · Strength · Mechanical Properties
Project-Specific Compliance Testing
Third-party compliance testing can be arranged when required by the customer, material specification or target market.
RoHS · Third-Party Testing · Test Reports
Material Documentation for Your Project
Supporting material documentation can be reviewed and provided according to the agreed project requirements. Where specific material certificates or test reports are required, these requirements should be identified during quotation and technical review.

Define Material Requirements Before Production
If your project requires a specific material grade, standard, heat treatment, mechanical property or compliance test, include these requirements with your RFQ and drawings. We can review them before production and incorporate the agreed verification requirements into the quality plan.

Quality Control for Different Manufacturing Processes
Different manufacturing processes create different quality risks. Our inspection approach is adapted to the characteristics of casting, CNC machining, forging and sheet metal fabrication.
From casting defects and machined tolerances to forged material integrity and fabricated dimensions, inspection priorities are defined according to the process, drawing and project requirements.
One Quality Principle,
Different Inspection Priorities
01.
Casting Quality Control
Casting inspection focuses on the characteristics that can affect subsequent machining, assembly and final part performance.
02.
CNC Machining Quality Control
Machined features are inspected against drawing-defined dimensions, tolerances and geometric requirements at appropriate stages of production.
03.
Forging Quality Control
Forged components are checked according to specified material, dimensional and project requirements, with additional testing arranged where required.
04.
Sheet Metal Fabrication Quality Control
Sheet metal components are inspected for drawing-defined dimensions, formed features, hole positions and other specified requirements before release.
Quality Certifications & Compliance
Our quality management and compliance documentation supports consistent manufacturing, inspection and project-specific quality requirements.
